Leadership

Chad Glasscock - President

Chad never played organize baseball after high school- but he never stopped loving the game, and when he finally got his priorities in order, he found his way back to baseball through coaching. Although never a star player, Chad was a gritty, productive, and dedicated catcher turned first baseman. His greatest stat line was his .765 mid-season batting average during his sophomore campaign, ending the year with a measly .435.

Chad did make the local newspaper once for his on field performance as a T-ball Pitcher, when he single-handedly executed a triple play - pop up, step on third, step on 2nd. He has since learned to trust his teammates. A former Catcher and First Baseman, Chad claims he “can catch anything”.

Chad grew up working on and taking pride in his youth baseball fields and the opportunities they provided his community. In high school, he was often the first one to arrive and the last one to leave practice, as he put in extra time picking up rocks and smoothing the surface.

He’s the son of a volunteer coach, and former city councilman, who is largely responsible for the construction of over half the ballfields currently in service in his hometown - helping to enable generations to discover and fall in love with the game.

Like his father, Chad has been volunteering as a youth coach across multiple sports for over a decade. He has coached youth baseball every season since 2013. Certified by USA Baseball and a constant student of the game, Chad knows how to impart baseball IQ, develop players fundamentally, encourage a growth mindset, and most of all engage youth players with a dynamic and effective team culture based on three rules - Focus, Hustle, and Have Fun.

Chad has found his purpose in helping others succeed - to achieve their desired future state on and off the field. When not coaching youth athletes, he is coaching small business leaders as a Fractional COO, or spending as much time as possible traveling with his family. If you cannot find him, he’s probably recharging somewhere in the backcountry.

Mike Branham - Coach

Coach Mike is a proud native of James Island who spent his childhood playing baseball in Atlanta, Georgia. He played from the 7/8-year-old level through high school, then chose to skip college and pursue a career in electrical work. Despite his career path, Mike has always stayed involved with organized baseball, both as a player and a coach, in various communities.

In 2003, Mike returned to James Island, where he always felt he belonged. Before having children, he volunteered at the local rec center, stepping in to coach whenever there were shortages of volunteers. After starting his own family, Mike took a four-year break from coaching to focus on raising his kids but was determined to return when the time was right. Coaching alongside his son became a goal he has eagerly pursued for the last six years, including as an assistant coach for the last year on a travel ball team.

Mike’s goal has always been to create a lasting baseball community by connecting with coaches who share his passion for the game. He found that his vision perfectly aligns with the JIBC and their mission.Coach Mike believes that youth sports should be used to build confidence, preparing kids for the challenges and opportunities they will face in life. Team sports teach essential life lessons—how to handle failure, celebrate success, and build resilience—which are all vital qualities for growth. For Mike, baseball is simply the tool he uses to teach these lessons, fostering a strong connection with his players. Joining JIBC was the perfect fit, as its values and mission closely align with his own. He’s thrilled to be joining a core family of baseball coaches, all sharing a unified vision focused on creating lasting opportunities for James Island youth for years to come.

Josh Bokor - Coach

Josh Bokor brings a lifetime of baseball experience to coaching. Josh grew up in Columbus, Ohio and traveled the country playing competitive travel ball, developing the skills and passion that shaped his athletic and professional career. Josh played one year at Ohio State and finished his career as a catcher at Emory University in Atlanta. Josh captained Emory to a second-place finish in the 2014 College World Series and is an active member of the Emory Baseball alumni community.

As a coach, Josh emphasizes teamwork, skill development, and a strong mental approach to the game. Drawing on his experience behind the plate, Josh provides a strategic perspective and deep understanding of the game. Off the field, Josh works in corporate strategy and lives in Charleston with his wife Molly, and two dogs.

Tommy Bilancione - Coach

Tommy Bilancione is a Charleston native that grew up playing recreational baseball in Goose Creek. In middle and high school he played second base and right field for Sea Island Academy. After serving in the US Navy, Tommy spent over 11 years in law enforcement in Charleston. He now teaches federal law enforcement for the Department of Homeland Security.

After coaching recreational baseball for multiple seasons he joined the James Island Baseball Club. With us he brings a continued desire to serve his community through coaching and mentorship.

Jerry Jones- Coach

Jerry Jones was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, where he grew up playing baseball. He played up to 15u in various baseball programs. His primary position was right field and pitcher, but he also played third base and catcher. He and his team won two championships in the Dixie Youth baseball program. He then sadly had to end his baseball career due to a shoulder injury.

Jerry got back on the field as a coach after his oldest son found love for the game of baseball as well as his youngest son. He coached two seasons with Island Boys as an 11u assistant coach.

If he’s not at the baseball fields with his boys, he’s running his family business or doing something outdoors: out in the creeks fishing, in the woods hunting, or at the beach surfing.

He is excited to be a part of the Pirate Baseball Program!

Coach With Us – Coach with Purpose

Help Lead the Next Generation of Pirates

James Island Baseball Club (JIBC) exists to develop confident, resilient athletes through a structured system that blends competitive baseball, personal growth, and community connection — all built for and rooted in James Island.

We’re currently expanding our 9U, 10U, and 11U Pirate teams and are looking for head coaches, assistant coaches, and dugout leaders who are ready to lead the right way — within a unified system that’s already in motion.

What We’re Building

This isn’t a start-your-own-team model. All Pirate teams train together, follow the same tournament schedule, and share the same values. We handle the logistics — field rentals, uniforms, tournament registration, practice planning — so you can focus on leading, teaching, and developing players.

At JIBC, our approach is rooted in player development and personal growth.
We teach young athletes how to play the game the right way — with focus, effort, and joy — while helping them build the confidence, habits, and mindset they’ll carry for life.

What We’re Looking For

We’re recruiting:

  • Head Coaches (parent or non-parent)

  • Assistant Coaches and Dugout Leads

  • Former players and community members who want to give back

  • Positive leaders who align with our system and culture

We invest in coaches who:

  • Build teams around Focus, Hustle, and Fun

  • Reinforce our player-first development model

  • Model consistency, communication, and composure

  • Grow themselves while helping kids grow on and off the field

What We Expect

  • Buy-in to the Pirate Way: Focus. Hustle. Have Fun.

  • Coach every player with purpose and accountability

  • Lead with energy, consistency, and preparation

  • Reinforce shared standards across all Pirate squads

  • Collaborate with the coaching staff to train as a club, not just a team

Our Guiding Principles

We expect all coaches to always be:

  • RELIABLE – Deliver results, exceed expectations, provide long-term value

  • INCLUSIVE – Empower others, value diverse perspectives and contributions

  • LEARNING – Expand knowledge and self-awareness continuously

  • GROWING – Develop personal and coaching skills over time

  • TEACHING – Lead, mentor, and model growth for young athletes

This Is Bigger Than Baseball

Our goal isn’t just wins — it’s to help players develop grit, set goals, and grow through the game. If you're ready to coach with purpose, lead a squad, and help build something lasting, we want to hear from you.

Pirate Baseball is just getting started.
